Hey guys!!!    Mirian from the Little Bird Shop here!    I wanted to talk about a little bit of bowed/warped wood. As a wood seller and woodworker, I can attest that it is not as easy to work with a warped wood. However, it is a very common occurrence with thinner plywood such as 1/8 and 1/4 inch that come as big as they do.    However, do not fret, not all is lost. It is fixable and I have tested myself.

The website Fine Homebuilding has a tip that is mostly what I do when I have to work with a warped piece of wood. It is quite understanding that on our daily lives we want to save time, but the knowledge that comes with trial and error, can save much more money and frustration down the line. We must conform the wood to our projects and not the other way around.

Something else I found very common is the thought that you need to mask your wood prior to laser cutting.

I do not know you but weeding the masking tape is the most time-consuming thing on the face of the earth.  It took me some time to find a good quality laserable Baltic Birch that accepted cutting all the way though and mostly without charring on my machines. I have a Glowforge plus ( get a referral code discount here: Discount program) and I also have a red and blank 100 watts machine for bigger projects ( totally different machines by the way), but the wood I found has such a quality veneer that I am able to cut without any type of masking and simply sand the wood afterwards without any damage to my projects, bellow are two examples.  I engraved myself a family sign and I did a deep engrave on purpose in order to take before and after photos, and here are the results:

Before sanding

after engraving

This is only my first post, I just wanted to get started somehow on my blog, you guys please subscribe to our email alerts and let me know as well what wood tips you would like to know. I started without know nearly nothing about wood and I love to learn together.
